Community Partner Highlight: GiGi’s Playhouse Houston
GiGi’s Playhouse is a global organization with over 61 locations, providing provide free therapeutic, educational, and career training programs for 30,000+ individuals of all ages within the Down Syndrome community. GiGi’s is dedicated to supporting the pediatric community and is partnering with Knowledge Is Now to provide FREE, easily accessible learning opportunities for caregivers to better meet the ever-evolving needs of their loved ones with Down Syndrome.
GiGi’s Playhouse is primarily a volunteer run non-profit organization, with many pediatric therapists helping to run free programming daily within the numerous Playhouses across the nation. Knowledge Is Now supports GiGi’s therapist volunteers as well, with a wide variety of live and recorded courses applicable to the greater Down Syndrome population to help both Playhouses and participants thrive.
What’s Included in the Free Knowledge Is Now Learning Opportunities?
Free caregiver-focused monthly offerings feature a diverse and meaningful range of topics expertly created by our experienced instructors. The topics and tools are relevant to the Down Syndrome Community, and the unique challenges that caregivers encounter when caring for individuals with Down Syndrome. Learning opportunities may address topics such as the foundations of hearing and vision, what to watch for, and when to seek out additional support. For caregivers whose child is new to the Occupational, Physical, and/or Speech Therapy process, learning more about what to expect of the therapy journey, as well as ideas for how to integrate important activities at home, can make a big difference. The healthcare landscape in general can be a complex one. Knowledge Is Now can provide tips and resources around health literacy as well, allowing caregivers to be more informed and empowered in the healthcare realm.
