Overview

Effective communication and collaboration are essential for clinicians across educational and healthcare settings. This course equips participants to identify common communication and teamwork challenges among colleagues, clinicians, and leaders. Attendees will analyze how generational differences, communication styles, and interpersonal competencies influence team dynamics and learn strategies to foster mutual respect and collaboration. Evidence-based approaches for navigating difficult or sensitive conversations will be presented, emphasizing professionalism and empathy. Participants will have the opportunity to review case studies and apply these strategies to realistic in-person and virtual scenarios, building practical skills to strengthen relationships and enhance team effectiveness across diverse practice environments.
Following this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify communication and collaboration challenges in educational and healthcare settings with colleagues, clinicians, and leaders.
- Analyze how generational differences, communication styles, and interpersonal competencies affect team dynamics
- Describe at least two evidence-based approaches for navigating difficult or sensitive conversations professionally and empathetically.
- Demonstrate these communication strategies in realistic in-person and virtual scenarios.
This course meets the requirement for Professional Development hours towards your ASHA renewal since it is approved by TSHA! You can count these hours towards ASHA renewal when you submit your Compliance Form.
It also meets ASHA continuing education requirements for professional development in culturally responsive, reflective, and collaborative practice (Note: 2 PDHs are required), as well as the Supervision requirement.
