This course will cover contemporary approaches to managing care for children and adolescents with cerebral palsy and medical complexity, with a focus on GMFCS Levels IV and V. Participants will learn foundational concepts, including family-centered care and strengths-based approach, and best practice to apply the concepts to rehabilitation services. Additionally, the course will focus on the progressive impact of secondary impairments on function for older children and adolescents with cerebral palsy and/or medical complexity. This course is designed for occupational and physical therapists treating children ages 2 to 18 years with cerebral palsy and medical complexity.

Following this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify two primary impairments and two secondary impairments commonly associated with cerebral palsy.
  2. Explain two reasons why children with cerebral palsy are at risk of reduced function as they age.
  3. Describe two benefits of family-centered care for the child and family.
  4. Apply knowledge gained about best practices for managing care for a child with cerebral palsy by creating one intervention for a case scenario.

Purchasing this course gives you access to the LIVE Webinar, as well as the RECORDED WEBINAR (for as long as it is active on the Knowledge Is Now Platform). This event will be recorded and available on demand within 10 days of the live event. Watch the recorded version at your own pace!
