As pediatric therapy providers face increasing scrutiny from health plans and evolving reimbursement expectations, delivering high-quality, compliant, and efficient care has never been more critical. This 2.5-hour session provides a comprehensive, practical framework for SLPs, OTs, PTs, as well as organization leaders and owners, to strengthen clinical quality while reducing denial risk, improving authorization success, and decreasing administrative burden.Participants will explore best practices across the therapy journey, including assessment, frequency of intervention, goal writing, and strategies for securing and maintaining authorizations, with a focus on aligning clinical decision-making with payer expectations. The course will also address effective caregiver collaboration models, including how to structure and document caregiver involvement to support outcomes, authorization approval, and ongoing reimbursement.

A key component of the session will focus on preventing denials and supporting authorization requests through clear, defensible documentation that demonstrates medical necessity and functional progress. Attendees will learn how to communicate clinical reasoning in a way that resonates with reviewers, avoid common compliance pitfalls, and create documentation that is both audit-ready and time-efficient—supporting clinicians without adding unnecessary workload.

In addition, the course will introduce organizational change management strategies to help therapy providers implement these best practices at scale. With an eye toward 2027 and beyond, leaders and clinicians will gain actionable tools to align teams, standardize care delivery, improve authorization outcomes, and adapt to ongoing regulatory and payer changes.

This session is designed for both clinicians and organizational leaders seeking to elevate care quality, strengthen compliance, optimize authorization success, and build sustainable, future-ready pediatric therapy programs.

Following this course, participants will be able to:

1. Apply at least three evidence-informed strategies to establish and clearly document medical necessity during pediatric therapy evaluations.
2. Analyze a child’s body structure/function capacity, medical profile, and age/life phase to make frequency recommendations in alignment with therapy literature and payer expectations.
3. Develop functional, measurable, and participation-based goals that align with clinical findings and support reimbursement requirements.
4. Implement at least two structured caregiver collaboration strategies, including documentation methods that demonstrate active caregiver involvement and support outcomes.
5. Identify and correct at least three common documentation and compliance errors that contribute to health plan denials.
6. Outline at least two organizational strategies to standardize clinical decision-making and documentation practices across teams to improve quality and reduce administrative burden.
