Appreciation is a sign of great respect, and those who feel appreciated, generally reciprocate that respect to others in return. During the “Great Resignation” of 2022, researchers at MIT found that employees were 3x more likely to cite a lack of appreciation as a primary reason for leaving a job than any other reason for leaving. We are at time in life and history where loneliness is at an all time high. Hostility and comparison are on blast. Self doubt lingers in everyone’s mind. When someone is appreciated in their current role it might not save a resignation, but:
– They are more likely to take great pause before making a change
– They are more likely to have greater dialogue with their co-workers and supervisors around the change they are looking for.
When an employee is appreciated consistently, it encourages positivity, support, creativity, and encourages employee growth, thus bringing improved results in every measurable area of success for an organization.

Following this training participants will be able to:

  1.  Outline the difference between appreciation and recognition.
  2. Define the ways they personally receive appreciation and recognition best
  3. Carry out conversations with their team mates and direct reports to best understand their “language of appreciation”.
  4. Practice giving quality words of affirmation to team mates and direct reports.
  5. Have a plan moving forward to improve their consistency with appreciating and recognizing others.
