The SLP, OT and PT assessment process is a complex and vital piece of the pediatric therapy journey. This course will describe a model for assessment, emphasizing the role of the assessment process in determination of medical necessity as well as development of a sound plan of care. Guiding medical necessity questions are discussed, and best practice strategies for analyzing family participation priorities for plan of care development will be shared. The assessment model also addresses decision making for dosage recommendations. A framework for creating short and long term goals that highlight medical necessity, as well as meaningful and measurable child/family-focused activities will also be introduced.
