This webinar describes how to modify commercial (“regular”) shoes in order to improve function in treatment sessions with children who Toe Walk.
Following this training, participants will be able to:
- Describe the purpose for a specific shoe modification & how it improves the toe walking gait pattern.
- Select an appropriate shoe modification for a child who toe walks to facilitate improved function for ADLs, walking, running, skipping, jumping, and/or playing.
- Design 2 specific ways to correctly modify commercial/regular shoes.
- Complete appropriate shoe modifications to improve gait & regulation for school aged children who walk on their toes
- Explain how appropriate shoe modifications provide stability for school aged children in order to perform daily tasks such as carrying lunch trays, ascend/descend stairs safely, & lower extremity dressing
