Overview
Diagnosing childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) can be challenging for many clinicians for a variety of reasons, including minimal training, the relatively low incidence of the disorder, and lack of reliable resources. In this session, the most up-to-date and evidence-based characteristics of CAS and protocols to diagnose CAS will be discussed. Video and audio recordings of children will be reviewed. Resources to learn more will be provided.
Following this course, participants will be able to:
- Name two evidence-based tools for diagnosing CAS.
- Name two benefits of conducting a dynamic assessment for motor speech.
- Name three components of a motor speech exam.
