Getting started with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) can feel like a daunting journey. There are many roads to navigate, choices to make, obstacles to overcome and without the right tools, it’s easy to get lost. This guide and presentation are designed to get you started on the right path and arm you with the necessary tools to keep you sure footed along the way.
Following this course, participants will be able to:
- describe which patients are ready to begin with AAC
- list 3 types of AAC and access methods
- identify 3 areas that are critical for feature matching a patient to an appropriate AAC system
