Pediatric Feeding: Assessment Tools, Meaningful Goal Development & Best Practices

This course will provide a comprehensive guide in assessing pediatric feeding through available assessment tools and building a comprehensive, meaningful evaluation and plan of care to justify medical necessity. We will thoroughly review building an evaluation that highlights skill deficits while connecting those deficits to medical need for intervention, meaningful goal writing, and the appropriate dosage recommendation. Safety throughout documentation and reporting progress for complex cases will also be discussed. Many aspects of this course will be related to ethical billing, skilled intervention, and the perspective of utilization management.

Following this course, participants will be able to:

1. Describe at least 3 ways to connect informal assessment tools to clinical observations when building a solid pediatric feeding evaluation report.
2. Identify at least 3 ways to ensure their pediatric feeding evaluation is safe and comprehensive.
3. Rewrite at least 3 feeding goals to ensure they are skill based, meaningful, and child/family centered.
4. Describe at least 2 scenarios that may result in a consult model frequency as it relates to pediatric feeding.
