Trauma Informed Care in the Workplace

This session introduces providers to the foundational principles of trauma-informed care (TIC) and its application within the workplace. Participants learn how trauma can impact not only the clients they serve but also their colleagues and themselves. The presentation explores how creating trauma-aware systems leads to safer, more supportive environments that enhance collaboration, reduce burnout, and improve outcomes across disciplines.

Rachel Archambault, MA, CCC-SLP, guides providers through key concepts including the impact of trauma, signs of dysregulation in children and adults, and strategies for maintaining a regulated and responsive professional presence. She also addresses the importance of reflective practice, language choice, and organizational responsibility in fostering truly trauma-informed care cultures

Participants leave with actionable strategies to apply TIC principles in daily interactions, team meetings, and service delivery, ensuring both client care and workplace well-being are supported

Following this course, participants will be able to:

1. Demonstrate the ability to apply two trauma-informed communication strategies through case-based discussion or written reflection.
2. Identify and describe at least three core principles of trauma-informed care as they apply to provider-client and provider-colleague interactions.
3. Recognize and list at least three signs of trauma-related dysregulation in clients or coworkers that may impact service delivery or team dynamics.
